The Lenches - News

The following is a message received by thelenches.co.uk in April 2009:
In the 1960s when I was a child, we went on more than one occasion to a decorative garden, which may have been an aviary, in the Lenches area. My late father always referred to the area as Sheriffs Lench, although I'm not sure that the garden was in that particular part of the Lenches area. I have a couple of photos of myself in the garden, next to a decorative windmill. I wonder if the garden is still there, as I have not found any reference to it on the Internet.

I would be most grateful if you can shed some light on this. For my part, I would be happy to share the photos with you.

I know where the bird garden was - its right at the bottom of the hill at Hill Furze! Before you get to the T junction on the right - before the dog lady as you come down from Sheriffs Lench! Used to go there my self too!
